Yes....we're going to Melbourne...

Yay!!  Here we are in Melbourne….finally made it.  Mr Fox had his check up with the surgeon who pronounced him ‘coming along nicely’ & to just do what he felt was comfortable….so we decided that flying to Melbourne could be a good choice….just forgot to mention it to the surgeon whilst we were there…oops, never mind, all has worked out OK.

As our lady exchanger was in our home along with Bolli the poodle, we thought it was a shame to waste the chance of a few days R & R in the centre of Melbourne…& we really both felt like a break after all the drama….& I had just been diagnosed with pneumonia (after 9 weeks of coughing) which explained why I seemed to be having more than a normal amount of ‘blonde’ moments…..so a holiday it is.

By the way, our lady exchanger fitted into the household very well.  I took her around a few of the local shopping ‘hotspots’….Classy lady at Noosaville was having her ½ price sale (great clothes for women which are fashionable & modern without being ½ way up your thigh) & Tres Belle…a new pre-loved clothing boutique also in Noosaville which has some great clothes & accessories at amazing prices and to Bonne Delice a little French Café at Peregian, for one of their delicious mille feuilles! She even cooked some nights which was VERY welcome…she makes a mean lasagna & her garlic prawns are not bad either. She also cooked us garlic snails…now, I have had snails a few times & quite enjoyed them, but these were the most tender I have ever had….& would you believe, they came out of a tin!!!...from Indonesia!!!  Who’d have thought???  I’ll be getting some more of those, for sure!  The 2 dogs settled in well, together apart from one little spat which involved food….why would one be surprised??

We flew from Brisbane to Melbourne, a decidedly cheaper fare….. unfortunately, now that Tiger no longer flies from the  Sunshine Coast, the other airfares seem to not be as competitive…and we couldn’t book as far out as we normally do, so that didn’t help…never mind.

The apartment is in the BEST position….just 3 minutes walk from Flinders St station & really in the heart of the Arts Precinct….I can only imagine what we would be paying a night if we were in one of the nearby hotels….what a saving this home exchanging is.  All the comforts of home & great security in the building where the apartment is.  A plus for the apartment is the VERY large balcony….much larger than normal…even has a little garden shed on it & an ornamental pool & fountain (complete with 15 year old goldfish)…musn’t forget to feed them…which seems to be visited by every sparrow in Melbourne.

I have acquired a few discount vouchers...Scoopons & Living Social...which we plan to use while we are here...will be interesting to see if they are as good a value as they profess to be....I shall report back next blog...along with some of the things we did in Melbourne.
